The Liquefied Petroleum Gas Commission authorization is the Louisiana Revised Statutes Title 40, Chapter 10, Part I and Part II for liquefied petroleum gases and Title 3, Chapter 10, Part II for anhydrous ammonia.

The Commission adopted NFPA (pamphlet) 58 – 2017 edition and adopted NFPA (pamphlet) 54 – 2018 edition. In adopting these standards, the Commission made exceptions to the standards; that any published Commission rule or regulation would take precedence over the standards. The Commission also reserved the right to make future exceptions to the referenced adopted standards that it deemed necessary, in the interest of public safety. Any exceptions to the referenced standards can be found in the "Adoption of Standards" Subchapter of the Commission rules and regulations.
